Great shots Dave. We are sorry that we told you that it was an otter when we looked at the photos on your camera. The sun was obscuring most of the screen. It is actually a Beaver which you already figured out. Again, sorry for the confusion. Joanne and Bruce

Interesting behavior - He was either having fun or marking his territory or both! DaveP Apparently it is a maneuver to warn other beaver of danger. A good reason to keep the shutter going when you find an interesting subject. Good ones Dave.

Great post Dave. Love the pics. I photographed one in the same location, slapping its tail for 20min straight. I thought I was the problem, but it continued slapping when I was out of sight. I think it was posturing to an otter that I thought I also heard in the reeds.
