One of the top items on my Bucket List for animals I photograph is behavior, and there are numerous activities to look for. Interaction, whether it be species to species or to myself directly is what excites me whenever it happens. Those images tend o be my favourites, and a few that I captured this week come to mind. The image below of Rough-winged Swallows was taken on McIntyre Road, Vaseaux Lake. I was taking a series if these incredibly fast moving birds darting all around me when a female took the time to rest on a post. What a break! An even better break when a male? stopped by to gain her attention. You see the results. The juvenile Great Horned Owl near Summerland really gave me the going over when I set up to capture its portrait. "Whoo, whoo are you?" it seemed to say with its eyes. Too cute! Later, It was joined by a sibling, and the message to me was doubled. Passing through Manning, this Black Bear gave me a direct stare. What was he thinking? What was I thinking being that close! This look is not always good, and I decided that we were too close to be friends. Into the car I quickly went. I got the message. Communication loud and clear. (The second image is the uncropped original. ) At this point, I decided that our communication was definitely over. My wife doesn't need to know about this one - right? (Photo is uncropped)
