Went out with my little guy to poke around and to enjoy the sun while the littler ones napped. Decided to focus on areas with bigger and more visible birds for the sake of the little guy and to not spend too much time in any one place. Through town we saw a Merlin fly over Salish Pond. At Salish Pond the hybrid mallard x pintail was still there among the mallards, Canada geese and a couple buffleheads.
Drove through east Chilliwack but it was fairly quiet. As it was late afternoon, I think most of the gulls were gone. We did get out to look at a raptor at Banford Rd with the scope but it turned out to be a red-tailed hawk.
We ended out day with a check at Sardis Pond and a play in the little playground. Birdwise, there were lots of mallards and Am wigeon, two white-fronted geese were among the hundred Canadas and couple dozen cackling geese. Two double-crested cormorants were drying their wings on the floatig logs set out for the turtles. A couple red-winged blackbirds were calling, hinting that spring isnt too far away.

I am keeping my eyes open for a White-fronted @ Cheam Wetlands, but the place has been really quiet bird-wise. It has had Redheads this time of year before....
Thanks for the survey! Dave
