There was one Semipalmated Plover in the small pond on Whelpton rd in Agassiz.
Although they are quite common on the coast, they are very few sightings in our region.

Thanks for the comments. I should have pointed out in the original post that Gord and I both found it. Cute little guy.
That little pond on Whelpton recently has been very successful with shorebirds. Definitley worth checking out if one is in the area.

Thanks for the reminder, Chris. Checked the Whelpton puddle this morning and found 2 Eurasian Collared Doves, a Great Blue Heron, 3 Semipalmated Plovers (lifer ;D), 2 Lesser Yellowlegs, and I think a Western Sandpiper and a Baird's Sandpiper. I'll have to download photos to confirm the sandpipers.

Hey Butterfly, not much time to stop and look lately... Correction on the Baird's, photos show yellow legs and orange on the bill so I'm going with Pectoral... also got ID shot of Plovers, neat little guys!

Kev, nice going and congrats on the lifer. Three Semipalmated Plovers are very good for our region. Nice work!
I agree with your id with Pectoral Sandpiper.
