We were driving along a residential street in Abbotsford a couple of blocks from home a few minutes ago when I saw a shadow cross the street just ahead. My son, home from university, said, "Turn around, Dad, that was a owl; it landed in the tree."
So we went back and there was a Barred Owl in a small leafless tree right beside the street, easily visible in all the Christmas lights.
After we all had a good look, and showed it to to a lady and two excited kids who had just arrived home across the street, and it in turn had looked us all over thoroughly, the owl flew off over the roof of the house.
A different twist on owling, to be sure. Stan
