Bruce and Joanne photographed a great Clay-coloured Sparrow today at the Great Blue Heron Nature Reserve! A great bird for the area, and certainly a bit of a surprise for early July given the most expectant time to see them would be spring and fall migration. Good work guys! Here is a photo. To see the rest, as well as a bunch of other amazing photos including a family of Bullock's Orioles (awesome!) click the link. www.butterflyonmyshoulder.ca/Journal/07_09/07_09-8.htm

That's a superb find!! If I wasn't busy tomorrow(going to Manning) I would go out there and try and locate it. Would he just be passing by?
Excellent photos as well. I especially love the bunting and the Oriole pictures. Both birds are beautiful.

This morning I stopped in before work to see if I could get lucky as I did with the Swamp Sparrow. This time I was not fortunate in the sense of seeing a Clay-coloured Sparrow, but the area was beautiful and full of birds. At least three male Lazuli Buntings singing just around the parking area. May try again tomorrow morning.
