Hi, I came home tonight and my wife noticed a large animal in the empty lot next door! I went out on the deck and was around 45' away from it. I thought it would be scared but I did not care and slowly strolled into the woods on the other side of the lot. We live close to Cheam Wetlands so I think it would be the same cat that was spotted there. We have a 3 year old who likes to play in the sandbox under a large tree. I researched online and it looks like Bobcat attacks on humans are very rare. How about kids? What safety precautions should we use? Any advice.... ( I cannot log on under my user name)

Hi Bill, what a beautiful sight! Very lucky!
Sure seems it could be the same animal from Cheam Lake area. It's nonchalant manner sure suggests it to be so! ;D
I would doubt a ~30lb Bobcat would try for a human but one can never be too careful especially with a small child. This guy (actually, looks to be a tom) seems a little more tolerant of humans than typical, but there is no sign at all it is sickly or having a hard time getting food. There is plenty for him to eat as there are rabbits everywhere. Ive seen others in the past too that seem simply curious of people. I think the general precautions one takes where wild animals or roaming dogs are is suitable with this guy as well when it comes to any concerns with getting attacked. He will likely avoid your area favouring the park land. He was probably just on patrol on his territory.

Awesome pictures! It's good to see that he is still around.
