Hello birders,
Carolynn and I were down at Eagle Point Park Thursday night and couldn't believe the number of small fish that were leaping out of the water (It was actually noisy). It was incredible. Would these be salmon fry, carp? Does anybody know?
Thanks, Brent Schmor Harrison Mills

Brent and Carolynn, I would suspect they are probably migrating Coho juveniles. About now, the ones that hatched last spring leave the freshwater creeks and side channels they reared in for the ocean at just over a year's age. They are usually about 6 inches in length at this time. Steelhead juveniles are on the move too about this time of year as well I think.
