Hello Birders
Today, May 6th, Denis Knopp and I did a Spring Big Day of the Chilliwack/Agassiz area. We totalled 90 species but the highlight of the day was a male Magnolia Warbler singing in a Douglas Fir tree at the 13km mark on Chilliwack Bench Rd. The bird was seen at approx. 9:25am and was heard and viewed for 2-3 minutes.
Denis or I will post the species list of the birds we saw sometime tomorrow as we just got home.

This is fascinating. In July of 2006, on the Flora Lake trail above Chilliwack Lake we saw this warbler: Which we thought might be a Magnolia. Having no previous experience with the bird we were never sure. But something about it looked different to us. Can anyone tell from these photos??? Bryan and Janet

My guess would be Yellow Rumped Bandj. Magnolia Warbler's have more yellow on their chest than the bird in the photo. I might be wrong though because I am not an expert on Magnolia Warbler's.

Fantastic find Denis and Jason! Good work guys. Denis, you have the knack for Magnolia Warblers! Two records from the checklist area and you were in on both!
BandJ, keep the shutter clicking. You never know what will pop up. Often it will be subtle too so more pictures the better! In today's day and age, it isnt like it's a waste of film anymore either! ;D
