Thanks Deb!
I forgot the Yellow-rumped Warbler so we're up to 95 including Deb's sightings.

A trip to Manning Park yesterday, many Whiskey Jacks greeted us in the parking lots and on the ski trails. Sorry no Crossbills, maybe too late in the day or season.....

wow look at all these birds!! and here I was all happy because I seen my first varied thrush ever! although I am very new at "birdwatching" and I have to admit, it goes in spurts!! I guess I need to get out more.....not an easy thing to do while homeschooling the kids & taxiing them back and forth to cadets, hockey, choir, soccer, basketball....you get the drift!! I will just enjoy others list and pictures for now, or maybe we'll have to take a birdwatching fieldtrip, although its pretty hard to birdwatch, when you're kids trudge like elephants on all the trails up here on promontory. Linda, the crossbills like to move in flocks and are typical of finches who have 'irruption' years where based on food availability, can move around in large flocks in areas they might otherwise not be found.
Cathy, I know the drill all too well from the taxi service to elephants! (they eat like them too!) Glad you are enjoying and seeing birds! Some minor efforts on your yard can bring them right to you too (plants, water, some food etc)
Nice Snipe! Not an easy bird to find.
Clarke, thanks for the coot.
Will update the list next time I sit down. Seems my taxi services are needed! ;D ;D

Our yard needs more than minor efforts!!lol we've officially lived here for a year now, and still haven't started landscaping..... we actually have a decent feeder that George built,a bi-level all side entry with a shake roof!\(when he builds something, its done good and proper!!) helps when you're in the house building business, I guess.... Its actually a pretty decent birding area here where we built, we're only 1 of 2 houses on this laneway, lots of trees, low bushes, grass and puddles, yes those kind of areas do still exist on promontory. Quite regularly have deer wandering around the house too. anyways, must carry on...kids want to pack a picnic and go eat lunch by the river....have to remember to take the binos and camera! and yes I agree, Gord, they do eat like elephants!!
