Great ideas from Tweeters, Thor. Christmas count totals for Anna's for this year will be very interesting. We, too, have an Anna's for the first time.
What I found to work well and simply for the feeder -- I took a medium sized box and closed it except for a window across the middle on one side when it's hung on end. I placed a trouble light (the kind mechanics use, with a metal reflector around one side of it), lying on the bottom of the box, below the feeder which hangs from the top of the box. We put the feeder out in the morning and turn the light on, and it stays out all day without freezing, allowing us to leave the house for a while without a problem. We did get a second feeder as a backup, just in case.
The hummer was a bit suspicious at first, but now he sits there and feeds happily. With a 40 watt bulb it stays about 10 or 12 degrees C warmer in the box than outside. Tomorrow will prove to be a bit more challenging with colder temperatures.
I also ran a thin rod through the box to act as a perch out of the wind with some warmth, but he hasn't taken a fancy to it.

Stan et all: Good on ya for coming up with what sounds like a really good design. Futher information from Tweeters included information about a device which sounds somewhat similar to yours. The poster provided a website, which appears to be an on-line hardware store, and shows a picture of a light with an aluminum reflector, and clamp. I include it here for informational purposes only. I am sure local suppliers have something similar. www.doityourself.com/invt/1110386. Cheers, Thor Thor Manson Hope, B.C.

Here is that reflector...this was taken last year but I have the same set up this year for them although its much more of a cold snap this year...takes the stress off having to change feeders on the half hour from freezing, especially since i am near sumas prairie..those north/east winds come in and its cold...these guys are tough...btw, i seen them sold at Friesen Electric in Abbotsford not that long ago.

Nice looking setup there, doesn't look like a rigged up mess and really looks like your hummers appreciate it! Good work! Thanks for posting the set up, it makes it easy to see how easy it is to do.
