Hi all: For those of you that enjoy following the adventures of others on their birding quests, you might enjoy reading the diary of Alan, and Ruth, two Brit birders who are trying to set a record of seeing the most birds in a year on a world scale. Their website is www.thebiggesttwitch.com. Go to the diary section. I originally read their story in a birding magazine, and then I noticed Larry Cowan posted a message on bcvanbirds on the weekend that they were in the Vancouver area. Unfortunately, while they were out at Iona, their rental car was broken into, and they lost some stuff. After they got things sorted out, they headed over to Vancouver Island for the day, where they got a few lifers. They indicated in their daily diary that they still need Varied Thrush, and Grey Jay. I said, if they wanted a bit of a drive, I could take them around Hope, and, maybe to Manning to find these two relatively easy birds. Unfortunately, my message reached them too late, and they spent yesterday, at Pt. Roberts, and, later, at Queen Elizabeth Park, where they saw a Barrow's Goldeneye, for their day's effort. I believe they left today for Cape May, New Jersey, to continue their drive for over 3600 birds. They are somewhere above 2000 now, so they will probably make it. Entertaining reading on a couple of highly energized; ( okay, obsessed ), birders. Cheers, Thor Thor Manson Hope, B.C.

I think the issue might be on the other end, Thor. This afternoon your link worked fine. I enjoyed reading their diary and their impressive goal for the year....but now when I click the link the webpage is not loading.
