Did some Whatcom county birding today. First stop was Semiahmoo Spit. It was my first time at this location and it was awesome! A lot of waterfowl including a couple of Long-tailed Ducks, hundreds of Scoters(no Black Scoters), and dabbling ducks. Had around 75 Red-breasted Mergansers as well. There were 42 Black Turnstones. It was neat watching this guy turn over some pebbles looking for food. Black Turnstone at Semiahmoo Spit Tallied 40 species in total Made a stop at Birch Bay and similar waterfowl species but not the diversity or numbers as it was for Semiahmoo. Coming back made a stop at Lake Terrel. Quiet but did see 6 Redheads.
