Nice Hank. It's always nice to know where the sighting was. Can you let us know?

On January 15 my husband and I also saw a huge flock of snow geese in a field on Vye Road near York. We turned on to York to get a better look when they suddenly all rose up and flew over our vehicle. It was quite a thrill to be underneath thousands of clamoring snow geese and not have to worry about being bombed with you-know-what. They flew off toward the south west.

From a distance, I often get snow geese and trumpeter swans mixed up. But when they get closer, it's pretty easy to tell the difference. It's not every day you have a brass band flying 10 metres above your head. I live on Hatzic Island and sometimes at night, when they're returning to Hatzic Lake from gleaning the shorn Abbotsford corn fields and it's getting late at night and they're obviously sneaking in silently, I can hear their wings swishing against the air as they fly by so close to the ground I can almost touch them. I love the trumpet and trombone impressions they make but the swishing air beats are special because you have to listen for them.

I had about 2300 or so on Fadden road south of Vye yesterday. I think that's probably the most I've ever had in the valley (by a fair chunk). First there were 800-1000 that flew into the field and then about 10 minutes later, while still watching and counting, another 1300-1500 flew in (resulting in some more watching and counting ) Edit: (I was just reminded that back in 2021 I actually had 3800 SNGO in east Chilliwack, so I guess my former statement was slightly off ¯\_(ツ)_/¯)

I am currently at Fadden Rd South of Vye. Snow Geese are here, I have tried to count and can only say Chris's count may be lower than what is here now.

Same location this morning -- Fadden Road just south of Vye, and right next to the road. I would say at least 2500, noisy and actively feeding. Lovely to see!
