I've grown to love the birds of my neighbourhood, not having a car to travel and all. I think it's safe to say, I know most of birds in the area. Earlier in the day I stopped by at Robertson Elementary where large amounts of Wood Ducks winter; picked a Chestnut-backed Chickadee there too.
This afternoon, I went out an a little walk. Started things off nice with a Red-tail, always interesting to see one outside of the farmland. Find some Green-winged Teals in their favourite part of the slough. Pished up a ton of Song Sparrows, a Fox Sparrow, and a goldfinch popped by for a second. Found a juvenile Northern Harrier and a Hairy Woodpecker on my way to walk Chilliwack Central. I often walk the Broadway to Prest section of Broadway. Today it produced a kestrel, Savannah Sparrows, waterfowl, and a flock of Red-winged Blackbirds being chased by a Merlin.
