In Agassiz back in November I noticed a Canada Goose with a neck collar. Earlier this week, I reported it to the banding program website www.pwrc.usgs.gov/bbl/bblretrv/ and it only took a couple days to reply. This fine fellow (sexed as male when banded) was banded on January 4, 2022 in Elko County in Nevada! Hatched in 2021 or earlier was the age they had for him. Must be a wintering site for him? With our cold and snow that I think sends many waterfowl south further, I wonder if he went back and said enough of this! I will reach out to the bander to learn about what they're working on and if there's any insight to where these geese come and go. There's so many subspecies and populations of Canada Geese it's hard to keep track of them all. _0226299 by Geordie LaForge, on Flickr
