This afternoon driving through Agassiz I thought the three birds sitting on a phone line down a side street looked off. I turned around and sure enough there were three California Scrub Jays drying out after the rain. All looked to be pure birds as well and not mixed with Steller's Jay which is worth watching for. This was on Rosevale Street and worth for Murray to keep an eye open as a good yard bird is not far away!

You're right Gord, any one of those would be welcome as a yard bird but unfortunately the Steller's Jays stopped coming into our development about five years ago. Occasionally I hear one calling in the distance but they won't stop. The developers have pretty much cleaned out all the bigger trees around here and I think the birds feel very vulnerable to the Cooper's Hawks and the Merlins which still swoop in and take a song bird or two. I'll take a drive over to the spot you mentioned and see if they're hanging around there.
