Hi,
I'm looking to replace my low end scope that has seen better days. I try not to spend too much money on birding equipment, so I'm looking to stay near or below the $500 range. I thought I'd see if anyone here might be selling a scope, or might have a good recommendation.

I would check out Vortex Razor. I think you can get one of those under $500 new. I am happy with my Vortex binos and I had excellent Swarovski before them (which were stolen) for comparison. I didn't think the Swarovski were worth $2000 more .

A bit over the 500$ amount, but I got a Vortex Viper 80mm scope off B&H Video, which I'm quite happy with. Would recommend it if the budget allows.
I used to have a Celestron Regal 80mm, which was also not very cheap, and it was quite a bit worse than the vortex.

The Vanguard looks interesting. I haven't heard of it before but has some good ratings for an entry level. I guess it is around $450 in Canadian funds? The metal case, waterproof, angled eyepiece and 82mm lens are pluses.

I have a Nikon D300s with three decent batteries for sale. I am not using it so make me an offer. A great camera for birding when it came but now a bit dated these days. John thecanadianwarbler.blogspot.com
