This woodpecker, (I got that far), does not look too much like the red throated and naped like a Yellow-Bellied Sapsucker, nor a Red-Naped Sapsucker since it only has one white streak. It also has more red than a Red-Breasted Sapsucker juvenile and that one white line. So, what is it? Seen near the quarry on the west end of the road. Thanks again Bentley.
If only I could find a good, but cheap bird ID guide that had color photos of male, female, juvenile, breeding, non-breeding, stationary, and flying birds from every angle, top, bottom, profile, and front facing birds of the Pacific Northwest variety as well as those across Canada, (except maybe from Toronto), that is updated at least every 5 years, and is small enough to fit in a pocket but lists as much as the "Encyclopedia Britanica" of birds. Yeah, I know, they make an app for that now. But internet is not always available everywhere. Time for a new phone. And another coffee. Klaus
