I spend a good amount of time ear birding while sitting in my vehicle with either one or both of my kids. My recordings are usually not worth sharing, as they have kids being kids in the background… sometimes in the foreground. Even still, there’s something about pulling over on a back road, rolling down the windows, and listening to the birds that is soothing, especially amidst life with young kids. One of my favourite spots is Keeping Rd. There may big trucks going by just down the road, and of course the kids… but the bird song here is lovely. Today I hear: American Robin Spotted Towhee Song Sparrow Black Capped Chickadee Dark Eyed Junco Hermit Thrush Brown Creeper Purple Finch Common Yellowthroat Brown Headed Cowbird Black Headed Grosbeak Wilson’s Warbler Orange Crowned Warbler Black Throated Gray Warbler Pacific Slope Flycatcher Anna’s Hummingbird Not too bad for a little back road
