This evening in the pond at Hopedale and Adams Road was a larger peep among the Least and a couple Western Sandpipers. A bit of study and it turned out to be a Baird's Sandpiper. It was up to its belly in the water which isn't usual as they seem to prefer feeding on land. It even swam a bit of deeper water until it could touch again. And, I don't think I've seen one in the spring before. I can only recall one other spring sighting from Chris at Harrison Lake years back. Baird's seem committed to flying straight up to their breeding grounds but we get juveniles more regularly in the fall pausing.
On Adams just down from Hopedale were two Solitary Sandpiper and a Lesser Yellowlegs.
Sumas Central Road had a bunch of Turkey Vultures and some Bald Eagles happy with whatever was spread on the field recently. A bonus and a first for the site was a Vesper Sparrow. It's been a good year for them.
Harrison Lake had 17 Red-breasted Mergansers, three Ruddy Duck, a pair of Greater Scaup and three Vesper Sparrows as notables.
Hope Airport a Dusky Flycatcher, a pair of Western Kingbirds and another three Vesper Sparrow as the highlights from a quick look.

Very nice Gord, the Airport mirrors what I have been seeing.
Will have to get down to Chilliwack!
