Today at Hatzic Lake I saw three American White Pelican flying ponderously over. They circled the lake a couple times but then continued north. _0221703 by Geordie LaForge, on Flickr Out on the lake was another rare white bird, a Mute Swan. I'm not sure as to this bird's story. There's been some seen, and apparently breeding, in Nicomen Slough just up the highway near Deroche. I have seen them but it was years ago. I've had a young bird fly in to Cheam Lake and spend a day or two then fly off. Of course there was a small breeding population at Sardis Pond back in the 80's or so. The young from there always dispersed when old enough. This bird probably isn't 'countable'. _0221709 by Geordie LaForge, on Flickr There was a good-sized raft of divers which included seven Ruddy Duck and a couple Red-necked Grebe. This evening there was a lone Pectoral Sandpiper with Least Sandpiper at the corner of Hopedale and Adams Road. Always lots to see on the spring migration!
