Have just spent the day in the Creston Valley Wildlife Management area. Did the Marsh walk (dogs are allowed on lead).....didn't see anything too exciting, just the usual, some Black Terns, Yellow Headed Blackbird, Eastern Kingbirds, tons of Tree Swallows, Song Sparrows etc. Afterwards we did the drive along Duck Lake, on the wires just before the lake there were four kinds of Swallows, Tree, Barn, Cliff, and Northern Rough Wing as well as Eastern Kingbirds. Osprey on all the nests. Red Neck Grebes..some sitting, saw one pair busy building their nest. There were a couple of dozen White Pelicans on the lake and 3 kinds of Terns. Not a lot of ducks visible, some Ring Neck, Mallard, a pair of Red Head, that was about it.
Tomorrow we head east, hoping to make Alberta where we will be heading to Cypress Hills.
