Hi Birders
There is a Long-billed Curlew on the east side of Banford Rd. Approx. 300m south of Prairie Central.

Awesome find! Thanks for reporting it I took a look around 7:15. Met half of the Chilliwack birding population there I did not see the bird

Jason just called to say he just saw it again but can’t log on to share. Look just south of the biggest pond on the east side of Banford. I think we all looked too far north last night.

Still there as of 450. There are some very small hills which it could have been behind last night.

Thanks for posting, Gord. Also a suspected Mountain Bluebird on the wire fence to the west. Poor lighting.

It continues around 8:20pm this evening, calling in the center of the pond it has been seen in recently. There was also a GHOW singing 100m south of the pond in the pines.

Couldn't find the curlew but I can confirm there is indeed there was a mountain bluebird in the yard at 7469 Banford.

The curlew was present at around 1pm in the same area (grassy area south of the large pond)

I saw a (the?) Curlew fly SW over Prairie Central (between Banford and Gibson) around 7:40.
So if the same bird it moves around, and would explain why it's hit or miss. Also it's often far into the field.

Saw it midday today on Banford Road at the usual spot. Later this evening thanks to Jon, Benny and I saw it on Gibson Road. Nice to meet Doug and Dave as well. _0221200 by Geordie LaForge, on Flickr

I was just setting up My scope to look at a "wader" on shore, near the water, when Gord came along. After Gord left I determined there were 3 Greater Yellowlegs wading, no Curlew. Before moving on I did a bins and scope 360. Gord, he was behind us, in the green grass, East side of Banford Rd. It is wet out there, with each strike he came up with mud on his bill.

Ken, glad you got it! It sure knows how to hide!
That evening I saw it on Gibson Road just north of Prairie Central. Interesting how it moves back and forth.
A lone female Mountain Bluebird was on Banford yesterday as well
