Wow two posts on the first day. This is one of those posts that one perhaps feels loathe to make. Not many of you know me yet, but I decided to post this because of its unusual subject. My wife and I were driving out of Princeton on the 5-A hgwy (May 21)towards Aspengrove when I scanned a bird flying up to a fence post on my right. A Mockingbird, not a shrike, not a T. Solitaire, but classic mockingbird stance, wings dropped, tail up....wow! I know now I should have reported it sooner. I'm also hoping that perhaps someone else saw it. This bird was seen within a mile or two from the brown bridge and on the right side of the road. Also I just came back from S. California and have seen Mockingbirds recently.

Great Sighting, ed! Thanks for sharing. I was at Cheam Wetlands yesterday during the early evening and noticed a large increase in the number of vireos, both Red-Eyed and Warbling. Dave P.S. No Mockingbirds though.....

Ed, I was recently in Virginia, I posted a shot of a Cardinal from there, (showing off my prowess with a camera--lol ;D) as soon as I put the camera away, I spotted a Northern Mockingbird, (a lifer for me) so I now can relate, without being tongue-tied about the "classic stance", before I was able to reach for the camera, I had spooked the bird--this was in a paved parking lot, and I did not see it again during the rest of the brief stay, congrats on your spotting it, and welcome--(I am here infrequently lately)---Al--PS. Jeff has posted some really striking photos of his trip south!

Hi and welcome Ed! Great sighting of the mockingbird! Im glad you posted it!
Your sighting reminds me of a mockingbird in Abbotsford several years ago. Id describe it similarly as well as Al shared!
