Had about 5 CORE in the backyard this morning, feeding with PISI. I think a different group of PISI as they did not go to the feeder, but went to the ground that lost the snow cover in yesterdays heavy rain.
This is also the first day the Varied Thrush were heard singing.
I'm glad the back yard is busy, as local area is quiet. A search of Hope Airport and area yesterday in the heavy rain netted zero bird sightings.
Thacker park, 2 Ring-necked ducks and singing Red-winged Blackbirds, but no Song Sparrows.
As of yesterday, Kawakawa Lake was half ice free. Three male Common Mergansers on far side, nothing else seen.

Ken, things will pick up now. Hope Airport will soon be invaded by large flocks of Robin and we often get our spring's first bluebirds and Say's Phoebe there too. Thanks for sharing what you've been seeing!
