Hi This harsh weather is bad for the birds. We have strong winds and minus 15 with a wind chill of about minus 30, so the birds are constantly eating. The woodpeckers in the photo are lining up to get to the suet and sunflower chip feeders. We keep them resupplied regularly. Notice the "social distancing" as they shelter on the south side of the maple tree keeping out of the unrelenting north wind and waiting patiently for their turn at the feeders. We have counted over a dozen Northern Flickers at one time plus all the other beautiful birds that visit. Notice the Hairy patiently waiting in the lineup. The hummingbird feeder with warmer cannot keep the syrup thawed even with the sock so changing many times. Saw a couple hummers yesterday morning but nothing afterwards and no sightings today.
