Went up to the Sunshine Coast yesterday, with Ed and Larry. Other than a passing shower, the weather was great. An unexpected highlight was a good-sized flock of Common redpolls at Sargeant Bay Provincial Park. Oystercatchers and turnstones were very abundant at the Roberts Creek jetty. Our main target species was Surfbird. After striking out at other stops, we had two dozen birds fly by and then land only 15-20 feet in front of us at Mission Point . This was a lifer for both Larry and myself. Surfbirds by Joel Schmidt, on Flickr Surfbirds & Black turnstone by Joel Schmidt, on Flickr The trip report: ebird.org/tripreport/15607
