Yesterday afternoon on the Loop Trail I heard the flight calls of Common Redpoll. Turned out to be two as I saw them fly over. Not able to see colours against the sky but I would have passed them off as Pine Siskin if they were silent. Earlier than average to see them but I see they have started to show in past years in mid November. I don’t think it’s supposed to be a irruption year for them but we will see.

Late this afternoon, there were three redpoll at Island 22 in an Alder tree. Maybe it will be an irruption year after all!

We had some show up as early as mid October here. But I'm really not sure how accurate their presence here would be for predicting irruptions further south.

Had five Redpolls just off the Jesperson Dyke. Might be a good winter for them?
