I poked around Sumas Prairie in the heavy rain. At the south end of Whatcom Road near Boundary Road was a Greater Yellowlegs with a Lesser Yellowlegs! I don't think I've ever seen one in November as they're supposed to be well south of us by now. Not a species we get in the Fraser Valley at the best of times. It was a quick observation as it flew within seconds of me spotting it. Was convenient that the Greater was right next to it for a comparison photo. _0217729 by Geordie LaForge, on Flickr _0217736 by Geordie LaForge, on Flickr On Fadden Road was a dark phase Rough-legged Hawk. _0217741 by Geordie LaForge, on Flickr A huge flock of Snow Geese and etc on McDermott Road at Campbell Road. There was one blue phase Snow Goose in among them. _0217747 by Geordie LaForge, on Flickr At home, we had over 1000 Snow Geese fly over the house. They were coming from the direction of Jon's place and we had fun texting back and forth about them. Unbelievable to see so many. Yesterday out on Hatzic Lake I saw two Redhead; a drake and a hen.
