Looking to buy - Canon Powershot or equivalent entry camera

Greetings,

My 14-year old son is looking to buy a camera to start taking pictures of birds. Something like a Canon Powershot with reaching zoom and image stabilization would be great. The SX540 is around $350-$450 new. We are wondering if anyone has an older model they would like to sell for a discount that would be more affordable. Perhaps you have upgraded and are unsure what to do with the older model laying around? A new birder would be willing to buy it as long as it is still working great .

Hi Dave,

I have a Canon Powershot SX710 HS that I'm not using anymore. The camera also comes with a Pelican case, a Lowepro case, a battery charger, 2 batteries, and 2 memory cards. I will be asking $140 for the whole ensemble.
