Again, sorry about the delay but I'm happy to have finally processed my photos from the past two months! Gord and I met at Island 22 in mid-September. It didn't seem overly birdy but we did manage to get 43 species. Early in the walk this RT hawk flew over just screaming for attention : The most interesting thing was the sheer number of swifts - both Vaux's and black. They seemed to be everywhere! Gord and I spent some time humoring ourselves and trying to get some photos, which is nearly impossible! Here's the best I managed: Black swift: Vaux's swift: Here's our list for the morning: Canada Goose 9 American Wigeon 6 Mallard 3 Ring-necked Duck 25 Common Merganser 29 Red-necked Grebe 1 Eurasian Collared-Dove 2 Black Swift 21 Vaux's Swift 54 Glaucous-winged Gull 40 Western x Glaucous-winged Gull (hybrid) 9 Great Blue Heron 2 Turkey Vulture 15 Osprey 2 Bald Eagle 5 Red-tailed Hawk 3 Downy Woodpecker 1 Northern Flicker 3 Hammond's Flycatcher 1 Warbling Vireo 1 American Crow 2 Common Raven 2 Black-capped Chickadee 23 Chestnut-backed Chickadee 1 Violet-green Swallow 80 Barn Swallow 26 Ruby-crowned Kinglet 3 Brown Creeper 2 Swainson's Thrush 2 American Robin 12 Cedar Waxwing 14 American Pipit 1 American Goldfinch 90 Fox Sparrow (Sooty) 1 Dark-eyed Junco (Oregon) 3 White-crowned Sparrow 3 Savannah Sparrow 1 Song Sparrow 5 Lincoln's Sparrow 3 Spotted Towhee 2 Common Yellowthroat 1 Yellow-rumped Warbler (Audubon's) 9 Black-throated Gray Warbler 3 Townsend's Warbler 1
