Among many dozens of Savannah and other sparrow species were 24 Western Meadowlarks this morning. I walked a short distance from my car parked on Appel Rd.west to the 3 tall hydro transmission towers about a half kilometer distant. Even though it doesn't look like a place one would find much I ended up with about a dozen different species as I have found on other walks over the years. Before all the brush and small trees had been removed it was actually a hot spot for warblers of all things. Oh well, progress I guess.
