We went for a little walk at Cheam this afternoon. On the lake, we counted 32 Greater White-fronted Geese. At the far side of the lake we saw two Redhead. As we were about to walk back, we heard the plaintive "Wheedle Wheedle" calls of two Horned Lark flying overhead. They might be the first for the park. 021_5886 by Geordie LaForge, on Flickr On the Loop Trail we enjoyed a young Virginia Rail quietly feeding at the shoreline. Not often are these guys seen and if so, it's just a glimpse as they run across open areas to new places to hide. 021_5888 by Geordie LaForge, on Flickr Over to the Beaver Pond, a young Sora was feeding even more in the open! Great views and also a lifer for Benny. 021_5891 by Geordie LaForge, on Flickr 021_5901 by Geordie LaForge, on Flickr Fall migration is always a blast.

Nice birds!
This afternoon the Redheads and Greater White-fronted Geese were near eachother to the south of the island viewing platform.
Interesting to see a Sora without the typical bright yellow bill!
