There was a Lewis's Woodpecker along the south side of the Airport this morning. Also there was an Olive-sided Flycatcher. I think I've only seen them here once or twice before. Grey Catbird along the east side. Lots of Barn Swallows. Otherwise, it was a bit quiet. It was quite windy out of the east which did not help. 021_5684 by Geordie LaForge, on Flickr 021_5689 by Geordie LaForge, on Flickr

Maybe it's that east wind that brought in the Lewis's 🤔
Nice bird, and photo too!

There was a Lewis' Woodpecker on the northeast side of the Airport this morning. Also present were two Gray Catbirds on the east and west side of the airport and a Vesper Sparrow on the northwest side.
I'll post a photo of the woodpecker later.

Today I stopped to see Jack at his farm next to Hope Airport and as usual his place was A Lewis's Woodpecker was seen several times. Among the White-crowned Sparrows and goldfinches feeding in the sunflowers were two young Chipping Sparrows. A lone Horned Lark flew over and soon after a large flock of American Pipits. Fall is certainly in the air!

That was a very clumsy post, sorry Jon! I think I meant to say his place was birdy and that I saw a Lewis's several times hawking insects during my visit. It was mostly to the south of his property, so west end of Hope Airport is a good description as any.

There are 2 present this morning Initially I saw just 1 in the NW corner, just north of Delair Rd. This bird (I think) flew to the shrubs in the airport (west side), then another one came and landed in the SW corner, and the first one joined it. Thanks Gord for the heads up! Lewis's is a new FV bird for me Edited to add some details.

Two continue today. Sounds like they hang pretty closely together and have a noticeable size difference. Male and female?
