Hello birders, with all the reports of Owls at Boundary Bay, Carolynn and I decided to check it out. We started at Reifel were there were thousands of Snow Geese in the fields on the road into Reifel. An awesome sight. Once through the gates, five Black-crowned Night-Herons were sitting out in plain view, while six Sandhill Cranes were taking bird feed out of people's hands. The surprise of the day came when we spotted four Bohemain Waxings near the large tower. Also in the area was one Northern Shrike, one Cedar Waxwing, and a Peregrine Falcon. All told, 40 species in an hour and a half.
We stopped for about 15 minutes at Boundary Bay (72nd) street to look for Owls; one Snowy and three Short-eared Owls. Not bad for just 15 minutes.
