This morning during breakfast I looked out the kitchen window and saw a bird in the pond/water feature just before it went out of sight. The dark-backed bird was really bobbing its back half I noted in the brief look. I got to a better window and it came back out and had a quick bath. Poor photo was obtained through the window and smoky skies. A very surprising visitor! We kept a look for it when we were around but did not see it again. I half-expected it to stick around for the day given our backyard has the best habitat for a migrant to rest up before flying on tonight. It well could have still been around. 021_5541 by Geordie LaForge, on Flickr I had a sit in the for a few minutes this afternoon and watched the pond and was entertained by a family of chickadee including a leucistic adult bird (in molt, young birds would not be). 021_5550 by Geordie LaForge, on Flickr 021_5553 by Geordie LaForge, on Flickr
