Today, Brent Schmor and I hiked most of the way up Mt. Frosty ( to the bowl ), in Manning Park. We had snow starting about 50 metres up the trail, which continued all the way to the top. Perhaps because of this, the birding was a little slow. Highlites were a flock of BONAPARTE'S GULLS on Lightning Lake, and 3 THREE TOED WOODPECKERS on the ascent/descent. Other than that, all that was seen besides the ubiquitous GRAY JAYS, was a probable BOREAL CHICKADEE at the warming hut, and 3 AMERICAN ROBINS at the very top. No PTARMIGAN/GROUSE. On the other hand, I think we caught the Larches at their peak, and the rest of the fall colours were also pretty spectacular. I guess we're back to summer tomorrow. Cheers, Thor
