Yesterday at Cheam Lake I heard a Solitary Sandpiper from the parking lot. Today we went for a walk and about 50 meters in on the Loop Trail we found one on a little island on the east side of the trail. Often, we also find them in the beaver pond further along on the Loop Trail if you keep to the left and look out from the raised walkway. There were a lot of Eastern Kingbirds around today as well. The Bald Eagle and Osprey nests had young birds in them pretty close to flying as well. 021_5395 by Geordie LaForge, on Flickr

It continues to be a good year for Solitary Sandpipers. There were two again at Cheam on the 24th and singles, both in the beaver pond, Saturday and Sunday. Sardis Pond got a new shorebird, also on the 24th, with two here but they did not stay long and flew off and continued their migration.
