Jamie and I did a day trip to Merritt yesterday. We'd been trying to find a day between work to go and it was good to finally get a day that worked. More to come from the trip but wanted to share we found a White-faced Ibis at Beaver Ranch Flats just east of Merritt. Jamie spotted it first; new bird for both of us. I always thought they would be a bit larger. A Bald Eagle scared things up and wow, there were a great many more waterfowl in there than we originally had counted! I liked the Wilson's Phalarope female that swam by. 021_5156 by Gord G, on Flickr 021_5166 by Gord G, on Flickr

Nice find Gord. I agree that they are smaller than my impression before seeing them as well. I'd have thought they would have been GBHE-sized, but they are more like a large shorebird.
