As the Fraser has flooded Starretts Pond, I was checking all the approaches listening for singing birds. At one point I found multiple singing birds I did not recognise, but could not put an eye on. I carried on with my walk to Bristol Slough, on the way back I decided to give the spot another attempt. Birds still singing but no sighting, so I decided to create a viewing window to return to another day. Trampling blackberries and weaving big leaf maples and making lots of noise. And as soon as I was done, several striking birds, grey head, olive back, white under soft yellow wash on breast, yellow patches and white eye line that looked Vireo like. Watching for ten minutes, I had no idea what they were. Enter Adult Male, black with bright orange patches, seems I had forgotten what Female/Immature Redstarts look like. Confirmed with Merlin song file.
I believe I viewed an adult Female and Male and at least one Immature. There were multiple singers.

Nice! I've thought that area has promise, but I never heard or saw Restarts when I tried.

Nice sighting. Love redstarts!
In the past, I have checked out that area during spring migration and it has been fairly good.
