Yesterday after the big windstorm I wondered if anything interesting would be on Kawkawa Lake. It was surprisingly quiet, but tucked away at a far corner out of the wind was a raft of waterfowl. The scope disclosed it was mostly Surf Scoter with a few Bufflehead and a single Lesser Scaup. I counted twice and got 76! By far the most I've ever seen in the Fraser Valley.
An early morning visit to Hope Airport was nice. A pair of Bullock's Oriole. The male was busy preening while the female caught several small caterpillars.
