A few evenings past, as we were sitting having dinner, a flash passed our dining nook windows and a kestrel landed on our neighbours roof with a Pine Siskin in its talons. The Kestrel proceeded in plucking the unfortunate Pine Siskin and then flew off wit its catch, not before I was able to take a few photos. I was able to rewind our security video and saw the Kestrel swoop down into our garden and snatch to unsuspecting Pine Siskin off the ground in an instant. We had never seen a Kestrel in our back yard until lately. Now it makes a pass almost every afternoon. Wow! That's quite a visitor for the yard! I've not often seen them with birds. Small mice, large insects and earthworms yes. Thanks for sharing the experience.
