Me and my brother had great hopes for global big day! Started off the morning bright and early at 6:20, because I only had a half day (yard work :/ ). I know, dawn is earlier, but it's a Saturday Sardis Park was the first stop. Notables were the 1 female Canvasback that was hanging out for a bit, a flyby Mourning Dove!, and 13 Cackling Goose: ebird.org/checklist/S87422843Female Canvasback Some later Cacking Geese Next up, Salish Park with the same old stuff... A good number of white-crowned Sparrow were there (for the location). ebird.org/checklist/S87422584After that, Hope River Rotary trail had some nice mammal species. I'd have traded them for lifers in a heartbeat, but still were nice to see They were a young-ish Possum and a Raccoon. Some good birds included Band-tailed Pigeon and Barred Owl. ebird.org/checklist/S87427649Moving even further North we went to Island 22. But upon reaching the horse parking lot we had a leaking tire! Could hear the air seeping out when getting out. So, back to town we went, and waited at the tire shop for an hour and a bit. The culprit was a boat tie-down... @gord, who is in charge of cleanup? After losing some cash, went back to Is 22. This time luckily no tie-downs made it in my tires. Is 22 had some activity, though the rainy-ish weather wasn't helpful. A pile of Wilson's Warblers, a male Lazuli Bunting, and a White-throated Sparrow were nice to see. I was reading about WTSP and it says there are no subspecies, but I'm sure I've heard something about "tan" something WTSP. Can someone clear that up? ebird.org/checklist/S87430608Record shot of a Lazuli Bunting White-throated Sparrow at the dog park The day ended with a Harlequin Duck at Chilliwack Lake. Total species: 66 Which isn't shabby
