This morning I had a pleasant surprise of a Common Grackle at Columbia Valley. It was across the field from that huge house and east of the horse paddocks.
It flew towards me parallel to the road and angled out to the middle of the field and landed on a fence post. Stopped and got a look with my bins over my shoulder out the backseat window but when I took my eyes off to get my camera it must have flown and I think probably went in a easterly direction. Dang! As I started to get out to try and see where it went I met a farmer with eyebrows raised who had pulled up naturally curious. Further time lost as I made the time not to worry him further. A bit of comedy of errors costing me a photo. I didn’t have much time to look after and couldn’t find it. Perhaps it will stick a bit as there’s a handful of Brewer’s Blackbirds around the horse barns there. This is the second time I’ve ever seen one. Cool birds!
Got my first of the year Warbling Vireo and Pacific-slope Flycatcher too.

I took a look after work. Found the Blackbirds, but no Grackle. ebird.org/checklist/S87212818It's kinda awkward birding that road. Plenty of barking dogs barking, and curious people.
