I spotted this cute little one this morning. Like it's name sake from Home Improvement, Wilson... didn't think it would show it's face. But I lucked out and it peaked out for a moment or two. Wilson's Snipe, Agassiz Slough, Tuyttens Rd. DSC01147 by Kevin Jones, on Flickr

Good work getting a good photo! They usually jump up three inches in front of us, causing us to jump up as well!

But I lucked out and it peaked out for a moment or two. r There was a time when Snipes were hunted. (Maybe still are). They are very difficult to shoot because of their erratic flight. If you were a good Snipe hunter you were considered a sniper. And that is how that designation evolved. A little bit of trivia that I've probably mentioned before.

Len, Ha! Oh course, so obvious!
I first herd the term Snipe Hunt from TV, an episode of Cheers. Fraser joins a snipe hunt so he can feel one of the guys. It's a prank, and they leave him in a ditch, holding a sack, waiting for them to flush the snipe. He makes it back to the bar and says he feels bad for giving up and begs for a second chance at the snipe. The guys can't believe their luck, they can prank Fraser twice. Fraser of course is on to them and is going to leave them all in the bush this time.
