A first for us... My sister in law spotted an eagle eating a carcass. It dropped the leg, which was banded. Sis got a plastic bag and retrived the leg and brought it over. It was orange and had a webbed foot. The band was usual silver colour, with 9 digit number. I reported it to the reportband.gov website and it was a male Mallard banded in Fairbanks Alaska, hatched prior to 2009.
That's a ripe old age for a Mallard. I hope he died peaceably of old age, and the eagle just lucked into an easy meal after the fact.
