Hi I have been watching the live cam of an Annas Hummingbird nest in Victoria, BC. The chicks hatched on February 15th and are growing fast. I did not know that hummingbirds nested so early in BC. Can anyone tell me when they start nesting here in the eastern valley? We had at least three hummers over winter coming to our feeders. I learned a couple of things watching the live cam. I saw the mom feeding the young and in the beginning she removed the globs of poop by flinging them away from the nest. Today, I saw the young raise their bottoms above the edge of the nest and squirt the poop about a metre out from the nest. It seems that only the mother is doing the feeding. Watching the nest is quite enjoyable and much more relaxing than watching the news. Mike www.youtube.com/watch?v=o-jBDk4La1w
