Having lunch and watching our bird feeders as swarms of a hundred or more Pine Siskins swoop in and clean out the sunflower chips. I told my wife, they act like a school of "Winged Piranhas". She laughed and agreed.

That's about right! They can make short work of sunflower chips! I couldn't imaging the nyger seed bill for those who feed that pricey seed.

Hi Gord Happy New Year to you and your family. We had our Nyger feeder out but in the fall the Pine Siskins prefer the sunflower chips so took in the Nyger feeder as the Nyger seed was getting old and wet which is a waste.
