It was a lucky day for me for some neat birds. On Angus Campbell Road north of Vye Road, was a Prairie Falcon. It was fairly far from the road. At first on a fence post, then, after being hassled by a Northern Harrier, it went down onto some corn stubble. Soon after, the harrier returned with backup and a pair of harriers tried to drive it off. I figured it would fly into the wind and hurried up the road as if it went the way I predicted/hoped, the light would be in my eyes. The falcon had enough of the harriers, and luck continued for me as it flew right past. I could see why it was reluctant to fly as it looks like a nice duck dinner recently feasted on was in its crop. Beautiful bird. Been awhile since I've last seen one. I saw Peregrine and Kestrel today as well. No Merlin to make five falcons though. I didn't think of it until later to try. 019_1481 by Gord G, on Flickr 019_1485 by Gord G, on Flickr

This one ate well, likely went to find somewhere to roost and digest. Great photos and story.
